Wii U update version 5.1.0 out now, lets you transfer content between Wii U systems

Nintendo has released a new update for Wii U that brings the firmware up to version 5.1.0.

With the update, users can now transfer all software and data from one Wii U console to another. This can be accessed within the System Settings and by choosing “System Transfer”.

Today’s update also brings new controller options to the Wii U eShop – Wii Remote, Wii U Pro Controller, and Classic Controller – and makes further improvements to system stability.

New Features:

Wii U to Wii U System Transfer
Users can now transfer (move) all software and data from one Wii U to another
A “System Transfer” option has been added within System Settings

Survey shows 50% increase in Wii U purchase intent following E3



IHS and Gamer Network recently conducted a survey of pre and post E3 hardware purchase intent.

For Wii U, following Nintendo’s showing, interest in the console seemed to grow significantly. Wii U purchase intent rose by 50 percent over the course of E3, according to GamesIndustry.

The same survey also revealed that 89 percent of Wii U owners intend to purchase the new Zelda game when it arrives next year.

“Iwata is recovering steadily,” Nintendo says

Bloomberg has received a status update regarding the health of Nintendo president Satoru Iwata.

“Iwata is recovering steadily,” spokesman Yasuhiro Minagawa told the publication. “There is no interference with his business as president.”

Iwata had a bile duct growth removed last month. He did not attend E3 2014 in June and also missed Nintendo’s recent investor briefing.

Wii U update version 5.1.1 out now, improves system stability and usability

Nintendo has released the latest system update for Wii U – version 5.1.1.

Of the update, Nintendo said, “Further improvements to overall system stability and other minor adjustments have been made to enhance the user experience”.

The previous update for Wii U, version 5.1.0, released late last month. It added the ability to transfer content between Wii U systems and included more control options while browsing the eShop.
