The next installment in the Pikmin series, Pikmin 4, is nearing the final stages of development, Nintendo’s Shigeru Miyamoto recently revealed during an interview.
“It’s actually very close to completion,” Miyamoto said during an interview with Eurogamer last month. “Pikmin teams are always working on the next one.”
Miyamoto did not say whether Pikmin 4 would launch on Wii U or Nintendo’s next home console, Nintendo NX. While little has been revealed about Nintendo NX, Nintendo promises to share more details about the platform in 2016.
Last November, Miyamoto said his recent work with the industrious plant/animal hybrids (Pikmin Short Movies) would directly impact Pikmin 4. The previous title in the series, Pikmin 3, launched on Wii U in 2013.
