How to beat the Trickmaster (Kingdom Hearts)

I'm having problems defeating this boss:

Can anyone offer tips to fight this battle?

My major problem is the flaming torches, I can't put them out and 3 successive fireballs is a fatality.

I can't seem to lock onto the torches easily, the lock on always targets the central body.

I don't even remember if this was a normal boss or a secret boss... So long ago since I played that game, completed it for 100% and it was worth it!

I didn't know you could jump to hit the weak spot.
I assumed you had to leap off the table to get to it.

Mind you, that Sora is higher level then mine, so that may make it look easier.

Wonder why the colors are different though?
The black in the video are pink in my version.

Did the 1.5 Remix version change some things?

I couldn't jump high enough to properly hit the weak spot.

That's pretty much what I've been doing, with the exception of one thing, knocking back the fireballs.

I just learned a power called Counterattack, I wonder if that is the one that can do this?

I think you're gonna have to counter the fireballs from the Trickmaster in order to beat him. So just be careful on some of his attacks because you're gonna be dead if he gets to you.

Well first of all we need some more information from you. For example, what level are your Sora, Donald and Goofy? What abilities do they know? What equipments and items do you have equipped to each of them? Honestly, being only the second boss in the entire game, you should not be having nearly this much trouble. I beat Trickmaster in under a minute. Literally.

You do not need to put out the flaming torches, either. Just avoid them. The easiest way to win this fight is to stay at a distance, lock on to him, and cast Fire over and over again. Once you run out of MP, it should be almost dead, so just rush in to jump and attack as much as possible. When he rears up, just jump far enough away from him. Dodge Roll helps a great deal here.

The Final Mix edition on the PS3 changed many things to the original KH, including the colors to many of the Heartless.

I beat Kingdom Hearts literally more times than I can count. I already beat Final Mix on the PS3, twice. I stopped playing Disney Infinity once HD 1.5 ReMIX came out lol. Its my favorite video game series of all time and there is nothing that I don't know. Seriously, try me. So if anyone else has any other questions, feel free to ask me.
