Missing much to jump to 3.0?

I have jumped into the Disney Infinity world by getting the 2.0 Avengers starter pack and just finished the play set. I am thinking about jumping into the 3.0 world, would I be missing much if I just go ahead and buy the digital XB1 version and sell off the 2.0 software that I have? Are there any 3.0 play sets for my 2.0 Avenger characters?

All characters can be used in the toy box mode anyway, also in the toy box takeover en speedway.
All Marvel characters will also work in the upcoming Marvel Battlegrounds playset.

And the Marvel Battlegrounds playset comes out in the spring of 2016!

And with all the sales going on these days for Black Friday, I'm sure it would be cheaper to get the physical starter pack for 3.0 and you would have 2 figures, a playset and a backup base, in case one breaks.

I guess it also depends on what you're planning on selling off - just the 2.0 game disc itself, or the Playset piece, figures, base, etc? It also depends on what you plan on for 3.0 - personally, I planned on retaining my 2.0 physical media and base, and just get the digital edition of 3.0 (although the fact that the 3.0 starter pack will be $31.99 with Best Buy GCU on Black Friday has me rethinking that). The base from 2.0 for XB1 is compatible with 3.0 for XB1.

The Avengers Playset piece can only be played on the 2.0 version of the game, but can be placed on the base in 3.0 in order to import all the 'toys' associated with it into the newer version.

All figures released to date can be used in Toy Box mode and the new Toy Box Expansion games. 2.0 restricted use to only "Disney Originals" figures in the Stitch/Merida Toy Box Games, and to Marvel figures in the Thor/GotG Games.

Yeah, the 3.0 starter pack that will be on sale has me debating also between that and getting the digital copy of 3.0. I really want the Star Wars pack.

How is local co-op for these? Not split screen?
