Yeah, unfortunately this maybe an issue specifically to Apple TV. Maybe this particular function is not available on this version. Being able to use the discs without needing to put the disc is a new feature of console 3.0. You can try with other vehicle discs, in case is just that disc specifically but otherwise its just not possible on Apple TV, sorry :/

Yeah, I'm afraid you may be right. Maybe if I'm lucky Disney will work on the Apple TV version of the game and get it working like the other platforms.
