infinity 3.0 ps3 issues

Hi. I bought the starwars 3.0 starter box for the ps3 for my boys but the Base unit does not power up at all and the game just launches straight into the starwars game single player. No menu options nothing. Then within 10 mins of playing out cuts to the inside out toy box!
I've taken the whole pack back to the shop and exchanged it. Still the same. Deleted the data from the ps and down loaded the update again. Still the same. The base itself works fine with the marvel 2.0 games and characters so I'm assuming software issues but have no idea how to fix it!
Can anyone help?

That is the introduction. It plays through Star Wars, Inside Out, and then Speedway racing before taking you to the Toy Box Hub.

Oh er doh. So it's a tutorial is it? Just play through it all then get to the main game menu?
