After seeing other's custom Captain America figure's, I thought I'd give it a bash myself. Particularly as I have found a shop in my home town that sells second hand figures, 3 for £5 ( $7 ) - I can afford to experiment. The 3 i've done so far have costume power discs. So I've attached the disc to the bottom of the figures with a BLUE TACK 'glu dot'. It means they remain in that costume, and are essentially a new figure. I used a scalpel to remove and sculpt, then fine sandpaper. Captain A's gun and cross body strap, are made from crafting 'foam', Which I superglued on. Gamora's knee caps are made from FIMO, which is like SCULPY I think. The paints are Humbrol Matt enamels - The kind used for Airfix and modelling. It's important to use matt, as I don't think any of the figures have a glossy finish. I did get a bit impatient as each coat takes overnight to dry. White takes a lot of coats to get good coverage, so Gamora was particularly a pain. I think I might go the whole hog and try a luke in flight suit next, as we've ended up with a double because of light FX. ( Don't get me started on that one... )
Oh and I made my stand from plastic plumbing down-pipe, each one 4cm taller than the last, and pine board sawn and painted.
